Federal government prepares to deploy police to the newly captured areas in Lower Shabele region
The Federal government of Somalia is arranging to deploy police forces to the newly captured areas in lower Shabele region.
Lower Shabele police commander Abdi Ibrahim Shamow alias Abdi Dere speaking to Goobjoog stated that the forces will maintain the security of the captured areas and will conduct more operations to restore the remaining few areas under Al-shabab to government’s hand.
The commander reiterated that there are areas in the region with no forces, he added that the government will immediately set up strong forces to combat the security threats of Al-shabab group.
The commander’s remarks comes a time the federal government recently announced to launch new military push against Al-shabab in South and Central Somalia.
Federal government forces supported by African Union peace-keeping troops in an offensive military have captured over districts from Al-shabab.
