Federal government seize weapons in Mogadishu
The federal government of Somalia has announced that it has seized collection of weapons and ammunitions and military hidden in a house in wadajir district during planned attack by security forces.
Ministry of national security spokesman Mohamed Yussuf Osman speaking to VOA Somali service said government forces getting help from AMISOM troops seized weapons that could be handed over to Al-shabab.
Exchange of fire that has taken almost an hour was heard all over Bulo Hubey vicinity in wadajir district where the planned operation occurred.
Unspecified number of people died and scores wounded during last night’s attack.
The spokesman finally said that such operations are part of the wider effort of the federal government to improve security in Mogadishu and Somalia in general.
In a similar operation government forces together with AMISOM captured weapons and ammunitions at Osman Ali Atto’s Garage in the capital Mogadishu.
