Federal Government to set up anti-corruption committee

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia has stressed its commitment to fight corruption in the country and announced plans to set up a committee dedicated to combating graft.

In a statement, Justice and Constitutional affairs minister Hassan Maalim Mohammed said that the committee will be subjected through a vetting process by the Cabinet and parliament adding that the the committee will play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.

Citing the teachings of Islam by prominent religious scholar Sheikh Idris, the minister noted the significance of trustworthiness saying embezzlement of public funds contradicts the principles of Islamic teachings.

Somalia, a country with a predominantly Muslim population, holds Islamic values in high regard, making this religious perspective particularly relevant to the ongoing battle against corruption.

The Federal Government of Somalia has been actively pursuing anti-corruption measures as part of its broader agenda for reform and development.
