GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Director General Mohamed Hashi Arabey, has urged fuel distributors to consider the economic challenges facing citizens and ensure fair pricing in the country’s fuel market.

The Director General said in a public directive that petroleum importers and fuel station operators should take into account the current economic conditions affecting the public, particularly transport operators and ordinary consumers.

The statement was aimed at encouraging responsible pricing practices in the fuel sector, which plays a key role in transportation costs and the broader supply chain across the country.

Arabey said the ministry is closely monitoring market developments to ensure that fuel traders operate responsibly and maintain price stability.

He stressed that commercial activities in the energy sector should not place additional financial pressure on citizens already facing economic challenges.

The appeal forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market and support economic resilience as the country continues its recovery.
