Federal MP Abdisamad Mo’alim Mahmoud: roadblocks are counterproductive to Mogadishu security
Former interior minister and the current federal MP Abdisamad Mo’alim Mahmoud called the immediate lift of roadblocks in Mogadishu.
Abdisamid said roadblocks decreased the loyalty of the public and gave Alshabab courage to attack such places. ‘If you want to enhance the security, you have to have public loyalty and you cannot get public loyalty by blocking roads they use to make living’ said the MP.
Government ministers, International embassies, NGOS, businessmen, hotels and UN agencies use roadblocks to boost the security of their residential or working premises.
The MP said instead of using roadblocks to cope with deteriorating security in the capital Somali security agencies need to employ the factor of trust ‘ trust between security agencies and public are the only way to cope with security situation in capital’ said the MP Abdisamid Mo’alim Mohmoud.
