Federal Parliament to endorse new electoral model in joint session
The Federal Parliament will today endorse the newly proposed electoral model in a joint session.
Both the Lower House and the Upper Houses of Parliament are expected to approve the model following a meeting by president Mohamed Farmaajo and leaders of both Houses.
The meeting this past week at Villa Somalia secured a commitment from the two leaders of the Houses to pass the electoral model.
Dubbed the Mogadishu Model, the formula envisages the election of MPs by an electoral college each composed of 101 delegates.
Senators will be elected by Federal Members State parliaments.
