FGS, FMS Political Heavyweights Take Key Posts as President Mohamud Unveils New Party

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) headed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was launched Tuesday night in a ceremony graced by several senior politicians at the Federal and State levels.

The JSP, set to be President Mohamud’s re-election vehicle, also unveiled its party leadership in what could now shape the race to Villa Somalia in early 2026.

The party is headed by President Mohamud while Prime Minister Hamze Barre becomes the deputy chairman in charge of political affairs, strategy, and planning. South West state president Abdiaiziz Lafta Gareen is also the deputy chairman in charge of security and regional governments.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama will also be a deputy chairman tasked with foreign affairs and economics. The Deputy Speaker of the House of the People also sits as the party deputy chairperson in charge of Sadiyo Yasin Samatar of social development and and publicity.

Abdirahman Odowaa becomes the part Secretary General. Other notable political figures are Galmudug President Ahmed Qorqoor, SSC-Khatumo president Abdiqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali and HirShabelle state president Ali Gudlawe. Banadir Regional Authority boss Mohamed Ahmed Amiir is also part of the new party.
