FGS issues statement on Somalis frozen to death on Greek-Turkish border

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: The Somali Federal Government has said it has received with great regret the shocking news that among the bodies of migrants found on the Greek-Turkish border frozen to death were five Somalis.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Federal Government of Somalia is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life of the individuals, and extended its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased Somali citizens.

The Somali Government also condemned with the strongest terms the abuses meted out on its citizens and called on the concerned countries and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the Somali citizens.
