Finance minister in the US for the IMF and World Bank annual meeting

GOOBJOOG NEWS | WASHINGTON: A delegation of Somali government officials led by Federal Government of Somalia Finance Minister Ilmi Mohamud Noor is in Washington DC for the annual International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meeting.

The minister is expected to discuss Somalia’s development programs with the heads of international financial organizations.

During a meeting with the Executive Director of the World Bank office (Africa Group 1) Dr. Floribert Ngaruko, the minister discussed the various financial reform issues and the general state of Somalia’s economy.

The minister also met with the representatives of the Russian government – one of Somalia’s key development partners which the government has in the recent past been negotiating for debt reliefs.

The meeting is scheduled for a week where several other meetings focusing on the economic situation of Somalia will be discussed.
