First Lot of Somali Refugees Docked at Seaport of Bossaso
A boat loaded with first lot of Somali refugees docked at seaport of Bossaso in the semi-autonomous regional state of Puntland on Wednesday.
Dozens of Somali refugees fleeing from the fighting and Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen have arrived in the northern parts of Somalia.
They were welcomed at the port by the mayor of Bossaso town, Hassan Abdullahi Hassan who said that they expect more refugees come to Somalia as the fighting escalating day after day.
The governor of Bari region Abdisamed Mohamed Gallan spoke to media said that the administration will undertake initiatives to resettle these refugees who evacuated from Yemen where Saudi Arabia and its allies are conducting indiscriminately airstrikes against Shiite militias who are controlling large swaths of Yemen.
Yemen hosts more than 238,000 Somali refugees, according to the U.N. refugee agency.
