Five airport officials arrested in Mogadishu for ‘work permit racket’

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Police in Mogadishu have arrested five airport officials suspected of running a corruption scheme involving the issuance of work permits.

According to a police report, the five were arrested following a sting operation at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu. The suspects are accused of falsifying revenue records relating to the collection of revenues from foreigners seeking work permits.

Sources said the Office of the National Prosecutor has already taken up the matter and will be prosecuting the suspects. The airport authority has not commented on the matter.
