Five Girls from One Family Killed In Hargeisa House Fire

GOOBJOOG NEWS | HARGEISA: Five young girls from the same family have been killed in a house fire in Hargeisa, relatives and neighbours said, in a tragedy that has left the community in shock.

The victims were identified as two sisters and three cousins, all minors. Family members named them as Faysa, 12, her sister Istahil, and three younger girls; Iqro, Fadumo and Maido.

A surviving relative said the fire broke out inside the family home before dawn and spread quickly, trapping the girls inside before help could reach them. The girls’ mother, an infant sibling and one other family member survived.

Neighbours said residents rushed to the house after noticing the flames but were unable to enter as the fire intensified. The blaze completely destroyed the home, drawing mourners from across the neighbourhood.

Local authorities had not issued an immediate statement, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
