Foreign Affairs Assistant Minister Mahad Dau’d arrested over alleged corruption
Foreign Affairs assistant minister Muktar Mahad Dau’d has been arrested over alleged corruption scandal in the ministry. Da’u’d becomes the senior most government official to be arrested over alleged corruption since President Mohamed Farmaajo came to office February 2017.
Sources privy to the development told Goobjoog News the assistant minister was picked late morning at his office in KM5. “I can confirm to you that the assistant minister has been arrested,” the source who refused to be named said. The source added detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested Da’ud ‘on alleged corruption in the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Other sources at the Ministry told Goobjoog News the detectives forced their way into the office of the assistant minister and drove him off.
The arrest comes barely a week after CID officers arrested the director of Resettlement in the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry of Dahir Mohamed Nur over alleged graft. The office of the prosecutor is yet to prefer any charges against the official.
