Foreign nation was involved in Ex-Control bombing-NISA
Somalia’s intelligence agency has in an unprecedented move hinted at the involvement of a ‘foreign nation’ in the Ex-Control truck bombing which killed over 80 people.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said in a tweet Monday afternoon it had submitted a preliminary report showing the involvement of a foreign nation.
The agency added it is working with international intelligence agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack which has since killed 89 people. Two Turkish engineers who were involved in the Mogadishu-Afgooye Road were also killed.
The Qatari government, an ally of Turkey and the Federal Government of Somalia is funding the road project which is contracted to Turkish companies.
A Turkish plane carrying medical supplies landed in Mogadishu Sunday and returned with 16 people who were injured in the truck bombing while a Qatari plane arrived in Mogadishu this morning with medical supplies.
