Foundation Dispatches 50 Water Tankers to Drought-Hit Hiiraan
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Hassan Kobac Foundation has launched the second phase of an emergency water-trucking programme, delivering 50 tankers to drought-affected communities in Maroodile and surrounding areas of Hiiraan region.
The initiative is aimed at easing acute water shortages affecting households and livestock after prolonged dry conditions across parts of central Somalia.
Foundation officials said the latest deployment expands ongoing relief efforts in Hiiraan and Bakool, where water deliveries have been scaled up in recent months to improve access to safe drinking water for vulnerable families and pastoralists.
Community leaders welcomed the assistance, saying the tankers arrived at a critical time as drought continues to strain livelihoods.
A foundation representative said water-trucking operations would continue in the coming weeks as part of broader humanitarian support intended to protect lives and cushion communities against recurring climate shocks.
