Four Family Members Killed, Six Wounded in Airstrike in Puntland

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI: Four people from the same family were killed and six others injured hit by an airstrike targeting the ISIS militant group.

Ahmed Yusuf Mohamed, the mayor of Qandala district in Puntland’s Bari region told the media that the ten casualties suffered from the airstrike in the village of Sihna in Qandala district. He said among the dead were three women, one of them being the mother of the family. A child was also part of the casualties.

The mayor condoled the family and called on people in areas suspected to be under ISIS control to leave. He did not however, disclose the origin of the airstrike but noted that ‘ISIS hideouts are being targeted to eliminate terrorists.’

He added that the strike was unintended. The incident comes amid ongoing military operations by Puntland security forces who have been hunting down ISIS militants in Al-Miskad mountain ranges in Bari region.
