Four Soldiers, Police Commandant Charged for Deserting Battlefield in Fight Against Al-Shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALMUDUG: Four soldiers and a police commander were charged today in a military court in Galmudug state for deserting service during ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab.

The soldiers- Abdi Mohamed Omar, Muhidin Omar Osma, Alas Muumin Barre, Abdul Qadir Mohamed Omar appeared before the Court of First Instance Wednesday morning.

Omar Mohamed Omar, the police commander of Elder district in Galgadud region was also charged for desertion.

According to the prosecution, the soldiers and the police commandant left the battle field during ongoing operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

Court judge Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Abukar Hassan said he would soon issue a ruling on the matter.
