Fresh Fighting Breaks Out in Luuq, ‘Several’ People Feared Dead

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GEDO: Fresh fighting broke out in Luuq town of Gedo region Sunday morning under unclear circumstances.

Multiple sources said there was heavy exchange of fire as residents fled for safety. Several people are also feared dead and others injured according to sources.

The cause of the fighting was unclear but comes barely three months after at least 15 people were killed and over 40,000 others displaced in a series of clashes which lasted for over a week.

The Jubaland government blamed local militias which it accused of diverting attention from the fight against Al-Shabaab.
