Galkaayo council elects a new mayor

Ending weeks-long campaign, A new mayor for Galkaayo was elected in a highly contested election which kicked off earlier Today.

In tough ballot polling which commenced Saturday Morning in Galkaayo town, Mohamed Yasin Ahmed who has managed to secure 31 votes has won.

Shortly after the announcement of the election, The electoral commission chairman welcomed the outcome, applauding the fair, free and transparent manner in which the election was conducted.
