Galkaayo schools urged to change society
Students and teachers from Galkaayo Schools have been told to transform their societies by applying the skills acquired from the institutions and work with the police in maintaining law and order..
Speaking during his visit to one of the schools in Galkaayo town, Galkaayo police Commissioner, Abdullahi Abdulle Warsame said the students have acquired the necessary skills to uplift their societies by providing exemplary leadership.
Mr Warsame told the students that it will be a challenge for them to galvanise others to join them in trying to look for solutions to problems faced in leadership.
“I have every confidence in you because the education you have received here is preparing you for leadership. teachers and students should have taken responsibility upon themselves to bring new modes of code and action to the places that need them most and to create new knowledge and strategies for overcoming formidable obstacles ,” said Mr Warsame.
He expressed his concerns on the increasing acts of crimes and the resultant indiscriminate loss of lives and livelihoods regionally.
“These are the issues dominating the regional security agenda and there is need to critically strategise on how to deal with them together,” Warsame urged.
Mr Warsame asked government to recognise the contribution of the civil society to the country such as schools
“Rather than being discouraged them, should be embraced as an essential contributor to the public good. they should be seen as the guarantor of good governance. We should see them diversity and peaceful disagreements as a sign of strength and maturity,” he added.
