Galmudug, AU Mission Plan Joint Offensive to Secure Central Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GALKAYO: Galmudug Vice President Ali Dahir Eid and senior officials from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) have agreed to step up coordinated operations aimed at driving Al Shabaab from remaining strongholds in the state.
Meeting at the Galmudug Presidential Palace, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen AU troop capacity in the region and enhance support for the Somali National Army.
Eid said improved cooperation was key to sustaining recent security gains and protecting communities in central Somalia.
The talks underscored a joint commitment to prevent militant regrouping and to stabilise newly recovered areas, a move seen as critical for regional security and the federal government’s wider offensive against the insurgents.
