Galmudug health centers closes down due dire medical shortages
The administration of Galmudug state in Central Somalia stated that dire medical shortages has seriously affected the activities of the hospitals and health centers.
Galmudug health Minister Ahmed Sharif said the shortages led to the closure of most of the health centers in the region. The minister was speaking in a ceremony where world aids day was commemorated in Galkayo, the headquarters of Mudug region.
He added that his ministry is making efforts to improve the health situation in the region.
Shedding light on the rate of Aids in the region the minister said the increasing level of piracy in the region is behind the spread of sexually transmitted infections including Aids.
He stated that the administration is putting in place strict measures to control increasing rate of Aids in the region, he called the religious leaders in the region to start awareness campaign against HIV Aids to the youth.
Mr. Sharif called humanitarian aid agencies to intervene and deliver support to the residents in the region.
