Galmudug leader Haaf appeals for public contributions to build Hobyo port

Galmudug leader Ahmed Haaf has appealed to business community and leader in the region to contribute towards construction of Hobyo port.

Speaking in Hobyo town Wednesday, the Haad the port will be constructed through collaboration and contributions from Galmudug administration and its residents.

“Let us begin contributions early so that the construction is not interrupted once began. All Galmudug residents irrespective of their status and titles should take part in this project,” said Mr Haaf.

Galmudug Minister of Ports and Marine Abdikadir Qalbaxor said in an interview with Goobjoog News that the state is determined to ensure the port in constructed and fully functional.

The port is expected to generate revenue and spur job creation in the new state. The start of the port project follows the completion of the Hobyo-Galkaayo port which was built through contributions from members of the public
