Galmudug lifts the restriction on Galkayo airport
The administration of Galmudug in Central Somalia has lifted the restriction on Galkayo airport after extraordinary meeting of the cabinet ministers and the top leader of the administration in the presidential palace.
The closed door meeting was chaired by president Qeybdiid, the ministers discussed wide range issues including security and the tensions between the two administrations.
Abdi Qeydiid, Galmudug president who briefed the media after the meeting said that they lifted the restriction on the airport after they recognized that Puntland is careless about the problems the people in the region face and the humanitarian crises in Mudug region that requires immediate support.
He accused Puntland president Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas of creating violence between the people in the region adding that Puntland is against the establishment of inclusive regional state in Mudug and Galmudug.
President Qeybdiid finally said the lifting of restriction is due PM Abdiweli’s call of ending the discord and going far from fresh clashes in the region.
He called the federal government to immediately intervene and send a committee to mediate the two sides.
