During the ceremony, President Libaan Hassan formally took over responsibilities from former Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye, whom he praised for his service and contributions to the state’s development.
President Libaan expressed gratitude to his predecessor for what he described as a dignified and peaceful transfer of power, commending Ahmed Abdi Kariye’s efforts in strengthening governance institutions, enhancing political stability, and advancing public administration in Galmudug.

He outlined a series of priorities for his administration, with security at the top of the agenda. These include accelerating military operations against Al-Shabaab militants, liberating remaining areas under the group’s control, advancing community reconciliation, strengthening government institutions, and consolidating state authority across Galmudug.

He said his administration would prioritize the needs of local communities, improve the delivery of essential public services, and implement practical development programs aimed at building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Galmudug.
In his concluding remarks, President Libaan called on all residents of Galmudug to support the regional government and work together toward shared development goals.
He emphasized that the state’s aspirations for peace, stability, and economic progress can only be achieved through unity, cooperation, and collective effort.
