Galmudug Presidential Candidate Liibaan Hassan Pledges Reconciliation and Stronger Security
GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREEB: Galmudug presidential candidate Liibaan Hassan, running on the ruling JSP party’s ticket, has pledged to bring communities together within his first 100 days in office and strengthen security through an inclusive force if elected.
Hassan was addressing the Galmudug state parliament as part of his campaign pitch ahead of the presidential election. Members of the state parliament will elect the president.
Outlining his priorities to lawmakers, Hassan said reconciliation would be an early focus of his administration. He also promised to establish a strong security force comprising Daraawiish forces and police, and to remove the group he described as “Khawaarij” from all areas where it operates in Galmudug.
The candidate’s agenda also covered justice, governance, public services and livestock trade.
Hassan pledged to establish an independent judiciary trusted by Galmudug’s people and a transparent administration free from bias, clan favouritism and preferential treatment.
On public services, he promised a dedicated healthcare budget and expanded access to education, particularly for rural children who have not had the opportunity to attend school.
He also said he would connect Galmudug’s pastoralists with international markets to help them sell livestock abroad.
