Galmudug Regional Leader Links Clan Clashes to Political Groups

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUSAMAREB: Galmudug regional state leader Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qor Qor has accused political groups in the region of instigating clan related violence to create instability.

Speaking on Monday, Qor Qor stated that individuals with political ambitions were responsible for fanning the conflict which he said has negatively impacted the ongoing government war on Al-shabaab.

“There are two problems among the people. First, the enemy of terrorism is igniting our nation. Second, those who claim to be politicians and do not fear God are destroying the nation,” the regional state leader said.

Qor Qor further stated that the mediation talks led by the federal government of Somali and religious leaders in the region have had a positive impact and are contributing to efforts to stabilize the region.

At least 30 people have been killed and over 50 injured in recent clashes in  a rural area between Goldogob and Saah Qurun in the Mudug region.
