Galmudug state MP: Indian Government prosecutes innocent Somali fishermen for Piracy
Galmudug State MP Mohammed Abdullahi Ali Has accused Indian government for prosecuting innocent Somali fishermen for a crime that they did not commit.
The state MP said they will do everything necessary to proof that 119 alleged pirates in Indian jails were decent Somali fishermen. ‘They were wrongfully snatched off the coast of Somalia while fishing by Indian navy’ said the MP Mohammed Abdullah.
The MP called Indian Government to free 119 Somali prisoners and give compensations ‘ we are calling Indian government to free these people. It detained them for many years. The Indian government should compensate them’ said the MP
The State deputy President Mohammed Hashi Arabi maintained the same position earlier, saying the majority of the alleged Somali pirates were fishermen captured by EU naval forces guarding shipping companies using the Indian Ocean.
