GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUUSAMAREEB: Galmudug has stepped up efforts to strengthen its police force, with a refresher training programme for officers aimed at improving law enforcement, operational effectiveness and public safety.

The training, organised by the regional Ministry of Internal Security in Dhusamareb, brought together police officers and other members of the Galmudug Police Force for further instruction in policing skills, professional conduct and security operations.

The programme focuses on strengthening officers’ knowledge of law enforcement, improving discipline and professional ethics, and enhancing their ability to protect communities and maintain public order.

The initiative comes as Galmudug continues to face security challenges, particularly in parts of the Galgaduud and Mudug regions where government forces have been engaged in operations against Al-Shabaab. The group retains a presence in parts of central Somalia, making the capacity of local security institutions important to maintaining stability.

Strengthening police institutions is also part of wider efforts to improve security governance in Somalia, where federal and regional authorities have been working to develop more professional and coordinated policing structures.

International programmes have supported police training, institutional development and community-oriented policing as part of efforts to improve public trust and security service delivery.

The Galmudug ministry said the training is intended to improve the force’s ability to fulfil its security responsibilities and provide effective services to the public.
