Garbaharey administration claims victory over clashes with Al-shabab

The administration of Garbaharey claimed victory over clashes between government forces and Al-shabab in areas under the district.

The district commissioner of Garbaharey Iman Adow Kariye told Goobjoog FM that government will soon take over all the areas under Al-shabab surrounding Garbaharey, the headquarters of Gedo region.

The commissioner stated that the forces have conducted security operations in all the captured areas so as to strengthen security.

He reiterated that the security situation and business activities of the seized areas came back to normal.

Al-shabab are in full control of  Bardere as one of their strongholds in Gedo region.
