General Reconciliation Meeting to Unite Galmudug State to Take Place in Dhusamareeb says State Chief Minister
A general reconciliation conference to amalgamate Galmudug State administration and Ahlu Sunnah in central Somalia is expected to take place in Dhusamareeb in the coming days according to the Chief Minister of Galmudug State.
Chief Minister Sheikh Ahmed Shakir expressed his optimism of the meeting to be a successful one which is attended by the Somali federal government officials including federal and state presidents among others and will be witnessed by the international community.
“This extremely valuable visit [of president Farmaajo] taking place in the state capital of Galmudug which we hope for the two administrations in the central regions will sit together, unite and co-operate in the next few days, attended by the federal government of Somalia led by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the international community. I hope we have prepared to welcome to host the meeting where federal state presidents will also be joining” said Chief Minister Shakir.
Somali president Farmaajo is already in the region on his official trip which he codenamed “Reconciliation Trip” and is expected to visit Dhusamareeb in a few days time.
In early December 2017 Galmudug state and the moderate Islamist group Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaah have agreed on a power sharing formula which would end the three old conflicts between the two sides and ultimately led to the transfer of state capital to Dhusamareb currently under Ahlu Sunnah.
