Goobjoog Media Group Deputy Director Abdiaziz Gurbiye arrested in Mogadishu

Goobjoog Media Group Deputy Chief, Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye has been arrested in Mogadishu following a center call from Hodan district police station in Banadir region.

Goobjoog Media Group Director, Hassan Mohamed Mohamud confirmed the arrest of Abdiaziz Gurbiye.

Gurbiye who also doubles up as Goobjoog News chief editor was taken in by police Monday morning over what police said was related to a Facebook post.

This comes after Sports Minister Khadijo Diriye ban Goobjoog Media Group from covering or attending any sports activity in the country which could violate freedom of expression and media independence.
