Goobjoog TV journalist found alive in Afgooye after 24 hours in captivity
Goobjoog Television news producer Hanad Ali Guled has been found alive in a farm in Afgooye, 30 kilometres south of Mogadishu and is now in the hands of authorities.
The journalist who was kidnapped from his home Saturday morning is reported to have been dumped in a farm by his captors.
A farmer in Afgooye told Goobjoog News he found the journalist in his farm shackled. “He asked me to call his family and Goobjoog,” the farmer said.
Guled who spoke to Goobjoog News from a police station in Afgooye sounded weak and noted he had suffered injuries after he was beaten by his captors. “I have injuries in on my hands but I am ok,” said Guled.
Goobjoog Media Group director Hassan Mohamud said his state of health was a priority now and would ensure he undergoes medical check-up immediate. “We want to pick him from Afgooye and take him to hospital to rule out any danger as a result of the harm he may have suffered while under captivity,” said Mohamud.
Guled is currently recording statements with the police in Afgooye.
