GOOL FM cup tournament for high schools kicked off in Mogadishu
GOOL FM Cup tournament sponsored by Goobjoog Media Group in conjunction with Salaam University was officially kicked off yesterday in the capital Mogadishu.
The tournament features 32 teams drawn from secondary schools in Banaadir Region.
The opening ceremony od yesterday was attended by various officials led by Governor of Benadir region and Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng.Yariisow), deputy chairman of Banadir social affairs Marwo Basmo Caamir Shakeeti, the district commissioner of Hamar Jajab Ismail Oronjo, Hodan district commissioner Abdi Xinhua and Mahad Elmi of Waberi district, Mr. Hassan Wiish, sporting director of Banadir region, Goobjoog Media Group manager Hassan Mohamud Mohammed, and officials from the University of Salaam and other dignitaries were at the stadium.
The Director of Radio Gool FM, Abdullahi Dahir Siyad Dhakoos has thanked all the various delegations who attended the opening ceremony of the tournament as he also granted special gratitude to the hosting district commissioner of Hamar JaJab Ismail Oranjo who accepted the competition to be played in his district Playgrounds.
“Gool FM is looking to enhance the youth football and bring together the entire learning institution in the capital Mogadishu,” said Abdullahi Dahir Siyad Dhaqoos
Sporting director of Banadir region Hassan Yabrow Wiish said: “It is a great pleasure for Gool FM and the University of Salaam to play a big role in the development and integration of sports in the capital city.
Ismail Oronjo, the district commissioner of Hamar Jab Jab, said he is very grateful for his district to host such important football tournament which plays a major role in the development of Banadir region.
Ali Said, the head of Salaam University said that Salaam university is always ready for encouraging and upgrading sports, and said they are very fortuitous by taking part in the competition.
Lastly, the Mayor and governor of Banadir Mr Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng.Yarisow) thanked the sporting director of Gool FM, who is always supported by the Somali Sports Center and praised the role of the Salaam in the competition, and finally inaugurated the Gool FM Cup competition for the secondary schools in Mogadishu.
The tournament which was officially started on yesterday on 24/02/2018 is expected to be completed on 26th March 2019 and the overall winner will take home a trophy.
