GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali government has suspended 40 Twitter and Facebook accounts that terrorists used to spread their propaganda and violent extremist ideology.

Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Adala said in a press conference on Saturday that the government would henceforth crack down on any site or individual found spreading any information about the Al-Qaeda affiliated group which has continued to wreak havoc across the country.

“Every person who spreads Al-Shabaab extremist ideology is a target,” said Abdirahman Adala.

The tough stance taken by the government comes hot on the heels of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s directive at the funeral prayer for the late Gen. Farhan Qarole that there is no room for neutrality in the war against terrorism: “You are either with us or with Al-Shabaab.”
