Government probes death of small fish species along Halane base

The Ministry of Fisheries has announced it is investigating the death of a  small fish species which was washed ashore along  Halane base camp in Mogadishu.

The Ministry’s director-general  Mohamud Sheikh Abdullahi told journalists investigations had started to unravel the circumstances under which the fish species locally known as eydi died .

The fish species which is used by fishermen to catch other fish washed ashore along Halane base according to Abdullahi who also noted the fish was not spotted in other areas within the shoreline in Mogadishu.

It was not immediately clear what led to the death of the fish but the ministry said it is conducting tests to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
