Government Forces Deal Blow to Al-Shabaab in Lower Juba Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army (SNA) troops, in a coordinated operation with Jubbaland’s Darawish forces, carried out a successful offensive early Sunday targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts in the Lower Juba region.
The operation, which was part of the government’s ongoing nationwide campaign against terrorism, specifically struck underground bunkers used by the militant group, including sites reportedly housing senior operatives.
The militants were believed to be plotting attacks aimed at destabilizing public safety and regional progress.
According to military officials, several explosive-laden vehicles and fortified hideouts were discovered and destroyed, dealing a significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s ability to conduct future operations in the area.
The federal government of Somalia has recently stepped up joint military actions across key southern regions as part of a renewed effort to eliminate terrorist threats, reclaim territory, and safeguard national development initiatives.
Backed by local forces and with increasing support from communities, the Somali government says it remains committed to eradicating violent extremism and ensuring long-term security and stability.
