GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAY: Security forces in Bay region of south-western Somalia have arrested an Al-Shabaab operative tasked with extorting road users in a major crackdown on forceful extortions by the extremist group.

The Somali National Army alongside South West State forces arrested Aliyoow Isaaq in Buur-Helede area of ​​the Buur Hakaba district.

South West state dervishes commander Mohamed Hassan Adan (Sandheere) told the media that Isaaq was arrested while demanding extortions from vehicles in the area.

According to UN reports, Al-Shabaab generates millions of dollars through extortions to fund its activities.
