GOOBJOOG NEWS MOGADISHU: Heavy gunfire has been reported at the central prison in Mogadishu prompting a swift response from security forces.

Initial reports from two sources suggest that suspected militant inmates fired guns and threw hand grenades at the guards in the prison.

The reports adds that there have been unconfirmed casualties.

Security forces are actively responding to the attack, attempting to regain control of the facility.
