Parliament approves Hamze Abdi Barre as Somalia’s 21st Prime Minister

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Hamza Abdi Barre now becomes Somalia’s 21st prime minister following an overwhelming approval from all lawmakers present in today’s session at the Lower House.

Lower House Speaker Aden Madobe announced that 220 MPs present out of 275 unanimously voted in favor of Hamze Abdi Barre.

Hamze Barre replaces Mohamed Hussein Roble who has been in office since 2020 and is expected to form a new government soon.
