Hassan Sheikh picks Abdirahman Abdishakur as special envoy to tackle drought

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh has named Abdirahman Abdishakur, fellow presidential contestant and MP, as Somali’s special envoy to tackle drought.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that Abdirahman would volunteer for the job, as he also doubles up as a member of parliament

The appointment of the Wadajir Party leader comes at a critical time when Somalia is facing one of its worst droughts in decades, with an estimated 7.7 million people in need of food aid, according to the United Nations.
