Heavy Clash in Bari Region

The clashes between Puntland forces and Al-Shabaab occurred last night in the town of Balli Qadar in Bari region and the fighting of one hour resulted heavy loss of properties.

Al-Shabaab has been confirmed to have attacked several militant bases in the area of ​​the Puntland Maritime Police Station..

Nearly 5 people were confirmed dead in the fighting, with injuries. Al-Shabaab  links to the internet as they say they have destroyed the entire base.

The Puntland administration said that Somaliland took part  the fighting in the town of Balli Khadar in the Bari region, which  resulted heavy loss.

Puntland’s security minister Ahmed Abdillahi Yusuf told reporters “that the attack was between Puntland forces and  Al-Shabaab fighters alongside  with Somaliland troops”.

He noted that the attack was led by well known somaliland forces, and added that the puntland troops had defended their territory well.

“Last night  Al Shabaab and Hargeisa’s militia led by the government forces attacked the Balli Khadar base where they have faced strong resistance, Puntland forces suffered a small loss,” said the minister.

On the other hand, Minister Abdullahi said that Somaliland and Al Shabaab have been integrated into the civilian government.

“We are assuring the Somali people and the international community that the administration of Hargeisa and its international partners is united and united with the general public of the people except the people of Hargeisa,” said the Puntland Minister of Security.

Somaliland has not coomented of this allegation against Puntland.

Puntland and Somaliland have been experiencing conflicts since the recent fighting in Tukaraq, Sanaag region.
