Court upholds the decision of Conflict resolution body to nullify the election results of 8 seats

Somali high court has nullified eight of 11 parliamentary seats previously suspended by conflict resolution committee.
In a statement dated on 16 May 2017, the court said that the winners of these seats acquired their victories through irregularities.
However, the court allowed resumption of elections for these 8 seats.
The winners whose victories nullified, are
- Muno Khaliif Sheikh
- Abdullahi Mohamed Adan
- Mohamed Saeed Abdullahi
- Mohamed Ahmed Abtidoon,
- Nadif Adan Isack
- Abdiaziz Salah Araan
- Sharmarke Garaad Saleban
- Samra Ibrahim Omar
Late last year, Somalia’s Independent Electoral Dispute Resolution Mechanism (IEDRM) nullified voting results for 11 seats triumphed in the parliamentary elections in the regional states that place last year.
The then Somali president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud together the leaders of regional state declared five of the 11 seats rerun through NLF communique while the rest were said to have been exercised free and fairly.
Among the seats re-contested is Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan, the former federal Minister of Youth and Sports.
The five seats which their elections were held came from Jubbaland, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Puntland and Southwest states.
