‘High-ranking’ Al-Shabaab leader killed in drone airstrike

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali government has announced the killing of one of Al-Shabaab’s masterminds in Haramka village, which is approximately 90 KM south of Barawe city in the Middle Juba.

Abdullahi Nadir, also known as Abdullahi Yare, was killed in a highly planned airstrike by the Somali National Army, alongside US forces on Sunday, October 1st.

Nadir, who was the son-in-law of Hassan Dahir Aweis, a former senior Al-Shabaab leader, had a $3 million bounty on his head by the US government for his terror activities.

The Somali government has described as a “thorn that has been removed from the Somali people” the killing of one of Al-Shabaab’s co-founders.
