Hirshabelle to hold elections for six seats in Jowhar today

GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: The State Elections Implementation Team of Hirshabelle will today hold elections for 6 seats in the House of the People, with half of the seats reserved for women in the region’s capital, Jowhar.

The Commission released last night, the names of the 12 candidates poised to contest for the six seats set to be held today.

The first seat, HOP 005 currently held by Mohamed Omar Aimooy, the Hirshabelle Minister for Agriculture, will be contested by Mohamed Omar Aimow and Mohamed Omar Ali.

The second seat, HOP 033 held by Yusuf Ibrahim Afrah (Kabale) has attracted two contestants namely: Mohamed Hussein Sabriye and Yusuf Ibrahim Afrah (Kabale).

HOP 052 held by Farhiya Mohamud Dhakane, will be contested by Fadumo Yusuf Omar and Farhiya Mohamed Dhaqane.

HOP 088 held by Dahabo Suusow Mohamud, will be contested by Jamilo Maslah Bulow and Dahabo Suusow Mohamud.

The sixth and final seat, HOP 097, held by Somalia’s Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Khadijo Mohamed Diriye, will see her again contesting for the seat together with Hodan Mohamud Hersi.
