GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: More than 230 Somalis, including children and elderly patients, received free heart screenings in a large-scale medical campaign led by Hormuud Salaam Foundation in partnership with Mogadishu Heart Center and Daarusalaam Hospital.

Doctors assessed patients for cardiovascular conditions, with those needing advanced surgery referred abroad to Kenya, Italy and Saudi Arabia, while others will continue treatment locally.

Officials said the initiative reflects growing efforts to expand access to specialized care in Somalia, where heart disease remains one of the leading health challenges.

Mayor of Daarusalaam district Mire Salad Dhuxulow praised the campaign as “life-saving,” while patients and their families welcomed the rare access to specialized care and called for more such programs.

Hormuud Salaam Foundation has previously supported domestic and overseas treatment for Somali patients, many of whom have returned home after successful recovery.
