Storyline:National News

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has said some employees of the Hormuud Company participated in terrorism-related issues.

In a statement released Monday, NISA said that the company had requested the agency for assistance in investigating an attack that targeted the company’s staff by suspected Al-shabaab militants in December.

NISA said the company refused to comply with requests from the agency to provide detailed information about the company’s bank accounts and the EVC Plus Service, in accordance with Article 8, Paragraph 3 of the National Security and Intelligence Agency law to aid investigations.

“Additionally, the company dismissed the accused employees who were found to have ties to terrorism. This direct non-compliance constitutes a violation of Law No. 003, Article 48 of the National Intelligence and Security Agency, as well as Law No. 007, Article 11 of the Anti-Terrorism Law,” NISA said in the statement.

The Agency said it has since arrested some of the company employees who obstructed the investigations into the incident.

“It is crucial to note that the Agency’s objective is solely to obtain information about terrorist activities and not to disclose information about Somali citizens,” concludes the statement.
