MPs, Senators meet today to set ground for presidential poll
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Members of the two chambers of the federal parliament are scheduled to hold a joint meeting today in Villa Hargeisa, Mogadishu, in preparation for the upcoming Presidential election.
The two houses will seek to elect members of the 11th bicameral Parliamentary Joint Committee tasked to organize the election of a new president.
According to article 89 of the Provisional Constitution, a joint session of the Lower and Upper Houses of parliament elect a new president and a candidate needs two thirds of the 329 votes to be declared president.
