IGAD Condemns Friday’s Terror Attack at Liido Beach in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has strongly condemned Friday’s terror attack at the Lido public beach in Mogadishu.
IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu while denouncing the attack stated that the act will not deter the ongoing war against terrorism by the Somali government and regional states.
Gebeyehu also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift and full recovery to those affected.
“We denounce this barbaric act of terror in the strongest terms. Such cowardly attacks will not undermine the resolve of the Somali government, its resilient people, or the region at large. Instead, it will strengthen our collective determination to rebuild Somalia and eliminate the scourge of terrorism,” stated Dr. Gebeyehu.
The Executive Secretary further stated that IGAD remains committed to supporting the federal government of Somalia in its War against Al-Shabaab to ensure peace and stability is maintained in the region.
“We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Somalia, whose exemplary dedication to rebuilding their nation serves as a beacon of hope for all those facing similar challenges worldwide,” A statement from the IGAD executive secretary reads.
