IGAD Executive Secretary in Mogadishu to Discuss Key Regional Issues

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu, arrived in Mogadishu Monday where he is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Somali leaders.
Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Moallin Fiqi who led a Somali delegation to welcome the IGAD Executive Secretary said that the discussions will also touch on other regional development initiatives.
Fiqi added that the talks will also focus on regional security, climate change, and the establishment of a Blue Economy Centre of Excellence in Somalia.
Recently, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Djibouti signed a new agreement on restructuring the IGAD Regional Organization, signaling a renewed commitment to regional collaboration.
